Goldy Simmons, Director of Strength and Conditioning for the Chicago White Sox, just completed his 10th year in strength and conditioning and 7th in professional baseball. Prior to becoming involved in professional baseball, Goldy served as a Strength and Conditioning intern at San Diego State University (2012), UCSD (2014) and University of California Berkley (2015). His first position in professional baseball was as Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coach in the Arizona Rookie League with the Kansas City Royals in 2015. In 2016, he transitioned to the Chicago White Sox serving first as a Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Advanced Rookie affiliate, Great Falls Voyagers (2016) and then the Low-A Kannapolis Intimidators (2017-2019). He was promoted to Minor League Performance Coordinator in 2019, and after two years in that position, was promoted to Director of Major League Strength and Conditioning in 2021.
A native of San Diego, Goldy graduated from Monte Vista High School in Spring Valley, CA where he played varsity baseball and football from 2002-2006. After high school, he was a student-athlete (RHP) at San Diego City College (2006-2007) before transferring to San Diego State University where he played baseball and earned a BS in Social Sciences. After SDSU, he earned a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science and Physical Education at Azusa Pacific University in 2015. Goldy is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Health and Human Performance at Concordia University, Chicago.
He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and holds PES and CES certifications.
